IBM recently shipped major enhancement to its flagship business intelligence (BI) product that incorporates many innovative governed discovery features. The new product, called IBM Cognos Analytics, pushes the envelope on self-service authoring. Using built-in heuristics and intelligence, IBM Cognos Analytics can step even the most novice user through the process of creating a new data set from selected data sources from which they can then build reports and dashboards. With one click, business users can also easily expose the underlying data model of existing reports and modify it to meet their individual or departmental requirements.
